Shear Outback was officially opened on Australia Day, Saturday 26th January, 2002. The official opening was carried out by Kay Hull, the Federal Member for Riverina. There were an estimated 3,000 people in attendance for the opening ceremony. |

PROJECT DIRECTOR - Sara Hector was appointed Project Manager in October 1999 and has an extensive background in marketing and business development. She was selected from a field of quality applicants following a lengthy assessment process by the board. Sara joined the team at a crucial time in the development of the project, and over the following 27 months was responsible for securing more funding, putting strategies in place and with the rest of the Shear Outback team, brought Hay's biggest dream to fruition.

THE BOARD - Pictured is the Shear Outback board of directors, many of whom have put in many hundreds of volunteer hours over the past four years to achieve their goal.
GENERAL MANAGER - Hay-born Austin Smith is the first General Manager for Shear Outback and was appointed to the position in November last year (2001). Austin came to the job with more than 10 years experience in development and management roles in rural Australia and spent his first two months developing operational strategies and recruiting Shear Outback's operating team in time for the opening. |
