1950  - Ted Reick machine shears 326 at Brinard, Julia Creek, Queensland.

1956 - Shearers in Queensland win a ten month long strike against the pastoralists' push to reduce shearing rates.

1960 - Filming of Jon Cleary's

The Sundowners, a story about shearing, brings Hollywood to the outback. The film is a popular and critical success winning five Oscar nominations.

1963 - The Tally-hi shearing system is developed by the Australian Wool Corporation and promoted using synchronised shearing demonstrations.

1965 - Kevin Sarre machine shears 346 at Penshurst, Victoria.

1969 - At  923,287,00 Kg, the biggest wool clip on record is harvested.  Australia's sheep population exceeds a record 180 million.
